Special Update: Student Loans

As you may know, in May the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation that mirrors the president’s proposal for a long-term, market-based solution to the looming student loan interest rate hike.  Without action by the U.S. Senate, students and families could see interest rates for subsidized student loans double on July 1, 2013 from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent.  As a father who helped send my four daughters to college, I recognize the importance of creating certainty for parents and students about federal financial aid programs.
