Rep. Barletta announces FEMA buyout in Benton Township
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, PA-11, announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved the buyout of a repetitively flooded home in Benton Township, Columbia County.
The residential property will be purchased and demolished by the federal government, and the land will be restored to open space.
The total project cost is $132,700; the federal share is $99,525.
“This buyout is good news for this family in Benton Township that has repeatedly been flooded over the years. I’m happy this family will no longer have to suffer through repeated flooding and the process of rebuilding their lives,” Rep. Barletta said. “I wish this family the best of luck as they can now live without worrying about flooding ever again.”
Buyouts are funded through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. For more information, visit https://www.fema.gov/government/grant/hmgp/index.shtm
