Rep. Barletta announces grant for airport safety equipment
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Lou Barletta, PA-11, announced that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport will receive a $250,000 grant.
This grant, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, will provide funding to acquire a new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicle to assist the airport in meeting federal safety requirements.
It will also provide funding to acquire ARFF proximity suits to replace existing protective gear.
“The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport is a vital link for economic development and job creation in Northeastern Pennsylvania. This grant will enhance the safety of the passengers who travel through and the people who work at the airport,” Rep. Barletta said. “This funding will help the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport be a first-class facility.”
