Rep. Barletta announces grant for Delware Water Gap National Recreation Area
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, PA-11, announced that the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area will receive $530,000 from the Federal Transit Administration for a program to reduce traffic congestion in the park.
The grant, through the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit in Parks Program, will be used to study, test/pilot, and implement a regional alternative transportation system at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The goal of the project is to coordinate and connect existing and new systems to best serve visitors to the park.
The project was competitively selected.
“The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a beautiful part of the country, and it offers thousands of visitors a year access to miles of river, dozens of miles of trails, and thousands of acres of wilderness. It is a spectacular local resource and attraction, so I’m happy that this money will make it more accessible to those who want to enjoy it,” Rep. Barletta said.
