Rep. Barletta Statement Regarding Veterans Day 2016
WASHINGTON – Congressman Lou Barletta (PA-11) today issued the following statement regarding Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2016:
“Veterans Day is a time to remember the brave men and women who have kept us safe during peacetime and dangerous times of conflict over the course of the history of this country. They – and their families – have made tremendous sacrifices on behalf of their fellow citizens. We observe the holiday on November 11th every year to signify the end of World War I – recalling the armistice at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. Today, we honor all veterans for their service.
“The heroes that began America’s story at Lexington and Concord in 1775 have been followed through the decades and centuries by men and women who have fought – and still fight to this day – so that we can remain the greatest and most freedom-loving nation the world has ever known. For those who have served, and those who still wear the uniform today, a grateful nation salutes you.”
